It's Skin Deep
This post is brought to you by Differin
I have never had horrible skin but I also am not blessed with the skin of a glowing baby doll and have always been caught in this weird in between phase. True confession: there was a point in my life where I didn’t leave the house without having some sort of coverage on my face. Whether it was to make a CVS run or to grab a coffee with a girlfriend, I always opened my makeup cabinet before grabbing the car keys. As I would stand there in the mirror applying foundation, I would get frustrated with myself for “wasting” time getting ready to run a simple errand, and then I would feel the ping of jealousy of women who spring out of bed without having to think about covering up breakouts.
Recently, with a few tweaks to my skincare regimen, that has all changed. Below are 5 skin care tips that I whole heartedly swear by and have made a favorable difference in my day to day life.
1. Revolving Door Of Wash Cloths
Having a clean washcloth every time you wash your face is key. Yes, it’s extra laundry you have to fold, but your skin will thank you. Invest in a pack of cotton washcloths (can be found super cheap on amazon.com or at a discount store like TJ MAXX) and swap in a new one before each wash.
2. Don’t Let The Bed Bugs Bite
If you don’t already religiously wash your bed sheets, this is your time to start. Make your skin a promise that at least once a week you will wash your pillow cases. Think about it like this - your face stays planted in one place for hours at a time - make it a priority for that space to be so fresh and so clean.
3. Try A New Acne Treatment
I recently added a brand new product called Differin Gel to my morning skin routine and lord almighty has it helped to prevent breakouts before they occur! Differin is a clear gel that contains a full prescription-strength acne fighting retinoid called adapalene. Up until now, it was only available by prescription – but starting this month, you can find it at your local drugstore. Can I get a hallelujah? Since I am not a dermatologist and this is about as technical as I can be, you can take my word for it or head to Differin.com for more information.
4. Hydrate From The Inside Out
Repeat after me: water is my best friend and I will drink 8 glasses minimum, daily. Hydration is crucial to having healthy and clear skin. So, what are you waiting up? Go fill up your glass right now!
5. Treat Yourself
If it is in your budget to indulge in monthly facials all the more power to you sista. If it is not, then there are plenty of other routes you can take to get that fresh spa feeling. I am the queen of treating myself to an at home spa night. Have a favorite face mask? Lather that sucker on, light a candle, put your phone down and rellaaxxxxxx.
With clear confidence,
