The 1 Skin Care Product Every Girl Needs

The 1 Skin Care Product Every Girl Needs

Skin care can be overwhelming. Whether you buy your products at the drugstore or department store, there are so many options. Here’s my advice: invest in a face oil. I know, I know...putting oil onto your face sounds creepy. But trust me! Once you try it, you’ll be hooked. There’s an oil for everyone, regardless of your skin type.

Choosing the right face oil

There are a million face oils on the market. When picking one, be sure that it’s made of natural ingredients because they will get easily absorbed into your skin. Oils made with synthetic ingredients will just sit on top of your skin and make you greasy. Gross. I am partial to Beautycounter’s face oils, because they are plant-based, and don’t contain any unnecessary junk.

Uneven Skin or Dark Spots

The struggle is real when it comes to achieving an even skin tone. Even if you are diligent about applying sunscreen, you may still have collected some brown spots. Oils containing Vitamin C will help target dull, uneven skin. Beautycounter’s No. 1 Brightening Oil smells like oranges and is a miracle-worker for those stubborn brown spots. I wear it under my moisturizer in the morning, and it instantly makes me smile! Citrus is the answer to everything.

Dry or Sensitive Skin

If you struggle with dry skin, look for an oil with natural ingredients like argan oil, sea buckthorn, and jasmine oil. If you have sensitive skin, avoid mineral oil. Beautycounter’s No. 2 Plumping Facial Oil is magical. During the winter months, I like to wear it under my moisturizer at night.  I wake up with soft, hydrated skin. What more can you ask for?

Oily or Combination Skin

Products with meadowfoam seed oil can help restore balance to your skin, while ylang ylang, jojoba, grapeseed, or sesame oil are effective at moisturizing your skin while cutting down on grease. Beautycounter’s No. 3 Balancing Facial Oil has literally transformed my skin. A study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology showed that treating oily skin with argan oil reduced oily spots by 42% over the course of just four weeks! I use it in place of moisturizer during the warmer months when my skin is producing excess oil. Pair it with the Charcoal Cleansing Bar for maximum results.

How to Use Face Oil

When it comes to actually applying face oil, there are a few ways you can do it:

1. Mix it with your moisturizer. First, dispense moisturizer into your hands, then mix in two or three drops of face oil. Apply the moisturizer as you normally would, and you’re good to go.

2. Apply products in layers. If you’re going to layer multiple products, apply the oil first, onto freshly cleansed skin. Then apply moisturizer on top of the oil.

3. Use the oil on its own. Some people like to use their face oil in place of moisturizer. If you decide to go this route, simply dispense three or four drops of oil onto your fingertips, then gently press it into your skin.

You may have to try a few different application methods and products to see what works best for your skin. But once you find the right one, you will thank me. And your skin will thank me. #winning
