Having a shitty day? Here's what to do

Having a shitty day? Here's what to do

I’m a crier and not a cute one at that.

Receives amazing news? Cries.
Overly tired? Cries.
Watches a TV show? Cries.

You get my point.

The days where tears stream down my face like a waterfall are those down right shitty days. You know what I’m talking about … the days that make you feel like the world is out to get you and no matter how fast you run, you can’t get away from the wrath.

Since crying in public after the age of 11 is, for whatever reason, not socially acceptable I’ve figured out alternative ways to help keep my shit together when having a shitty day.

9 Ways To Quickly Cure A Shitty Day:

Laugh It Out

We all have that something or someone that is guaranteed to make us crack a smile. Whether it’s a funny video, a silly Instagram meme account or the humor of a friend – laugh it out.

Flower Power

Anyone else convinced that flowers have secret magical powers? Before you plop down on the couch, make a pit stop to buy yourself a bouquet of your favorite blooms! There’s a high chance those petals will brighten your day.

Fire Up Your Endorphins

“Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands. They just don’t.” – Elle Woods

If there’s anything I’ve learned in life, it’s that Elle Woods is always right. For the days where you’re feeling down and out, one of the best things you can do is sweat it out.

I’m fully aware that dragging your ass to your gym may be the last thing in the entire universe you feel like doing but scouts honor you will feel a million times better once you sweat it out.

**Don’t have a gym membership? Here are some other options and making an excuse is not one of them.

Nature

If you’re a nature girl like me, you too recognize the power of simply getting outside to breathe fresh air into your lungs. Catch the sunset, sit by a body of water, take a walk in the park. Being one with nature is an easy way to help cure a shitty day.

Go For A Drive

I dare you to prescribe a better medicine then aimlessly going for a drive with the windows down and your favorite moody play list coming through the speakers.

I DARE YOU.

Spa Appointment

If you live a lifestyle where booking spa appointments are of the norm, then take me with you next time. If that is not your reality, you’re speaking my language. I’m all about some TLC at home, especially after a long AF day. Here are a few ideas of how to luxuriously pamper yourself without leaving the house.

Goodnight Moon

Sometimes the best thing to do is to call it a night and start fresh tomorrow. Lay your head on the pillow and treat yourself to an early bedtime. For the best night’s sleep, every night here are 6 easy steps that will have you waking up feeling rested and radiant.

Lean On Me

Lean on me, when you're not strong and I'll be your friend.

Whether you need a hug, a happy hour partner, a listening ear or a mix of it all – lean on your friends. Having your go-to person that gives you the green light for a vent session is a damn good friend and I hope you show them the same love when the roles are reversed.

Namaste All Day

Not able to get to your mat?

No problem.

If you are in a environment where you are able to sit in child’s pose, do so. Allow your eyes to close and take a deep inhale and a refreshing exhale. Another calming pose that I swear by is to put your legs up on the wall. This is a rejuvenating pose that gently brings your body into a state of relaxation and renewal. For a full breakdown of benefits and instructions on how to get properly get into the pose , read this article from Yoga Outlet
