How To Take The Ultimate Selfie

How To Take The Ultimate Selfie

Whether you love it or hate it, we live and breathe in the land of selfies. It’s become a normal sighting to see someone taking a photo of themselves with their coffee cup, am I right? With social media running the world it’s clearly a priority to make sure you’re on top of your selfie game. So, freshen up your lip gloss and get your camera ready because I’m about to blow your mind on how to take the best selfie, ever.

1. Pay attention to good lighting
Lighting will make or break your selfie so before you snap away take that into consideration. Try to avoid using a flash at all cost since it will do nothing but wash you out which is not the best look. Know that natural light will always be your best friend and will enhance your beautiful eyes! Take into account what time of day it is as that could decipher whether it’s best for the sun to be in front or behind you. If you’re looking to crush the selfie game then golden hour (during sunrise or sunset) is the time to shoot because the light is low and insanely beautiful.

2Know your angles
If you have a “good” side, then play that up! Turn the camera around to your “good” side, flash a genuine smile and your selfie will turn out flawless. It’s all about playing into your features and exuding confidence.

3. Don’t use a mirror unless you have absolutely no other option
Mirror selfies are sooo 2012 so unless it’s necessary, don’t date yourself ;) There are of course exceptions to every rule so if you’re trying to capture your chic #ootd then stand in front of the mirror and take a photo like it’s nobody’s business! #HairFlip

4. Take the background into consideration
I personally gravitate towards brighter and colorful backgrounds and I take that into account with all photos I take. When you’re in front of the lens ask yourself what vibes with your selfie situation the best. Is it a busy wall? A plan background? Play around in a few different spots until you get the shot!

5. Watch out for photo bombers
Even though the guy randomly jumping in the background of your photo thinks he’s a complete comedian – he isn’t. Little does he know the grueling hard work you’re putting in to capturing the perfect selfie. If there are people (or items) you want to remove from the background of your photo, I use the app TouchRetouch and it works like a gem.

6. Be Tasteful
A general rule of thumb for posting photos on any social media platform is to do so with class and style. In case you haven’t caught on, the internet is here to stay so even though the boottayyy shots may get all the #likes think about how uncomfortable that may be for our future employer to see.

Aint no shame in the selfie game,

missing a selfie would be a tragedy........
