How To Survive St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick’s Day: the one day a year where everyone is apparently Irish and green sunglasses are trendy. If you are pushing your nationality aside and replacing it for your love of drinking during the day here are a few tips to ensure you and your shamrocks survive the holiday:
1. Assess Your Drinking Capabilities
This would not be the time to lie to yourself. If you’re a lightweight the other 364 days out of the year don’t expect your body to all the sudden up its tolerance because it’s a holiday. Stick to your limit! If your body treats beer as if it’s water, go on with your bad self. Just remember, it’s never a cute look to be the drunkest person at the bar. Wherever you fall on the scale, have fun and don’t forget that the day is a marathon not a sprint.
2. Carbohydrates Are Your Friend
For the love of Saint Patrick, do not start ordering beers on an empty stomach. If you learned anything in college it’s that having a solid foundation in your stomach before the day drinking begins makes all the difference. Even though calories, unfortunately, still count on holidays you gotta load up on those carbs. I’ll have a greasy egg sandwich, please.
3. This Isn’t A Fashion Show
Of course you want to be the girl that the others are whispering “how does make St. Patrick’s green look good?!” With that being said you’ll want to remember that you will be surrounded by crowds and clumsy drunks so expect to be spilled on. Besides not wearing your new shirt know that comfort is key on this day. Order a fun graphic tee from Etsy and you’ll be good to go!
4. Know When To Move On
Change scenery throughout the day is the golden key to success. Don’t get sucked into staying at the same bar for 5 hours. Make it a point to hop around and know that the fresh air can’t hurt!
5. No pinching
That’s just annoying and we all graduated kindergarten. The end.
6. Leave Yourself Some Love
If you do plan on going balls to the walls place a water bottle and two Advil on your nightstand. You will fall in love with yourself all over again when you roll over and find those gems waiting for you.
Whether partying on St. Patrick’s Day is your thing or not, I hope you have a fun filled Friday!
