4 Simple Wellness Shortcuts That Make It Easier To Be Healthy

4 Simple Wellness Shortcuts That Make It Easier To Be Healthy

Pretty sure it’s fair to say that 2020 has brought on a load of uncertainty and stress levels are higher than usual. Focusing on creating a manageable wellness routine that you can integrate into your lifestyle can help boost your immunity and help create structure during a time where everything may seem out of your control.

In a time where imposing extra stress and strict guidelines on ourselves is not needed, I thought it would be helpful to share 4 easy adjustments to make to your everyday life that will help you achieve your ultimate health.

Prioritize Sleep

At top of the list is a favorite pastime, sleep! Getting enough sleep (7-9 hours is recommended) can have a huge affect on your overall quality of life. In case you need convincing, benefits of sleep look a little something like this:

  • reduced stress

  • helps to reset your body

  • aids in a strong immune system

  • can help to maintain your weight

  • keeps your heart happy

  • proven mood booster

If you have difficulty falling asleep making a few minor changes can help. Limit your screen time before bed, drink chamomile tea or try a sleeping mask. A good night's sleep is the best wellness shortcut you can take.

FOOD PREP

Let's talk food.

If you crush the meal prep game then you go girl! If meal prepping for an entire week just isn't your thing, I get it. My suggested shortcut when it comes to meal prepping is to make sure you at least prep your veggies and fruits. Carve out a little chunk of time on Sunday to chop up your veggies and wash off your fruit so they are ready to go. Whether you eat your veggies raw, steamed or cooked is completely up to you but having them already prepped will make it easier to grab those out of the fridge instead of a bag of chips. You can do the same thing with your fruits and other produce. Wash your berries ahead of time and cut up your melons so they are easily ready for a snack or to throw into your breakfast smoothie. Healthy eating doesn't need to look like prepped home cooked meals 7 days in advanced but there are shortcuts you can take in the kitchen to nourish your body.

GET IN YOUR STEPS

You would be amazed how much of a difference getting your steps in makes to your overall health. Moving your body throughout the day is a shortcut that all of us are capable of incorporating into our daily routine. Being creative and having fun in the ways that you get your steps in will make it feel less like a task. During the work day set a reminder to get up and take a walk to a coffee shop or to have a mid day dance party! Other ways to move your body on a daily basis are to opt for the stairs instead of the elevatory, stand up at your desk and do some stretches or to stroll around the around the block.

PLANNING AHEAD

Have you ever thought to yourself, if I have to make one more decision my brain is going to explode? That's called decision fatigue. Planning ahead of time is key to feel less stressed when it comes to making decisions throughout the day. Meal prep can reduce the amount of decisions you have to make throughout the day. In addition, signing up for a workout class in advanced or choosing your outfit the night before can all help reduce decision fatigue and keep you from feeling stressed about the little things.
