New Year Same You

New Year Same You

Whenever I see the phrase “new year new me” I want to slam my head against the wall. Ok, that is in fact a little dramatic but those words really do make my blood boil since I am a firm believer in striving to create a better version of yourself as opposed to creating an entirely new version. There is undeniable magic in new beginnings but why fight so hard to throw the old you out the window? Keep your foundation and refocus your mindset to build a stronger you, a healthier you, a happier you, a more determined you, a kinder you. I’m no life coach but I am pretty sure that every single one of us is a work in progress and the sooner we accept the beauty in that the quicker we will feel satisfied. To help make your resolutions more achievable I’ve included a list of healthy ways to reach your goals this coming year.

1.  You Know Best
Before picking up a pen and paper to jot down your resolutions take some time to tune in to your mind and body and listen to what they are craving. Self-awareness is incredibly powerful so pay close attention to what your soul is craving this year.

2.  Take It Month By Month
30 days seems a lot more tangible then attempting to conquer 365 days all at once. Successfully knocking a month out at a time will keep you motivated to see results as the year continues.

3.  Be Specific
I hate to be a ball buster but saying “I want to lose weight” isn’t going to cut it. How much weight do you want to lose? By when? Aiming to pay off your student debt? How much will you be able to set aside a month to do so? Ask yourself questions and get specific!

4.  Have An Accountability Partner
Whether it be a friend, a spouse, or co-worker find someone who you can rely on to reinforce a “you got this” attitude and who will check in with you on your progress and pump you up if you are steering off course.

5.  Give Credit Where Credit Is Due
When you make progress make it a priority to celebrate! Every step forward in the right direction is one step closer to achieving the bigger picture.

Regardless of how you view New Year’s Resolutions I hope your year is full of overflowing love, unforgettable adventures and a next level of success. Oh and one more thing, in the words of Bruno Mars, “girl you’re amazing, just the way you are."

Coming for ya 2017,
Chels
