A Girls Guide: How To Survive The Super Bowl
Alright babes, huddle up. The Super Bowl is two days away which means you need to read this as if it’s the bible. The below tips are a result of tireless research in speaking to but not limited to: my father, my brother, my boyfriend and random men on the trendy streets of LA. If you want to uphold your relationship with bae and not look like a total idiot (sorry, tough love) on Sunday then I’ll need your full attention. Ready? HUT HUT.
The Ultimate Girls Guide To Surviving The Super Bowl:
1. So, like, what teams are playing?
For the love of God do not ask this question out loud. The following basic facts you need to commit to memory before the sun rises on Sunday: The New England Patriots will be playing the Atlanta Falcons this coming Sunday on FOX at 3:30PM (PST) got it? Ok, moving right along.
2. Spoiler Alert: There Are No Plans
The other 364 days of the year you are responsible for organizing the logistics: where, when, attire + what to bring but since this is Super Bowl Sunday know that the men will be “in charge” of plans. With that being said plans will most likely be last minute and that will most likely cut into your time getting ready so spend 10 minutes on Saturday planning what you will wear (hint: keep it real casual) that way you aren’t tearing apart your closet come Sunday afternoon. Don’t be that nagging girl, no one likes that girl. Go with the flow and enjoy watching men in uniform.
3. Two For One
If you think you are attending a Super Bowl party without your bestie, think again. Having a buddy with you is key to survival so plant the bug in your friend’s ear ASAP. Trust me, you are going to want someone by your side who you can gossip in the bathroom with and who will also cringe at how messy the living room is.
4. Wait For The Replay
Do not, I repeat, do not sit in the corner taking selfies and then blurt out “wait, what happened?” If you are unsure of what occurred on the field please do yourself a favor and wait for the replay and hold your questions until then. You spit firing off questions while the game is in motion will ignite a spark inside those concentrated on watching the game like you have never seen before. Also, note that commercials are a huge part of Super Bowl Sunday so be mindful of that TV time as well!
5. Do Your Research
Before stepping foot in a bar and or party memorize the following: a touchdown is 6 points, an extra point is 1 point and a field goal is 3 points. There are two halves and four quarters. The defense’s job is to prevent the other team from scoring and the offense’s objective is to add points to the scoreboard. The ‘line of scrimmage’ is an imaginary line drawn from where the ball is placed at the end of the play, neither team can cross the line until the next play begins. A ‘down’ is the period of action that starts when the ball is in play until that play is over. The offense is given 4 downs (chance) to gain 10 yards. When watching the game keep an eye out for the highlighted yellow line on the screen – the ball needs to pass that to get the 1st down.
6. Bring Something To The Table
They says the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach so I highly advise you to not show up empty handed. If your oven blew up you can never go wrong with bringing a case of Bud Light. In the case that your oven is still working here are 50 party food ideas perfect for game day.
7. Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun
No matter if you look forward to this day all year or if you couldn't care less, have fun! It’s a great excuse to gather with a group of friends and indulge in a #SundayFunday.
