I am a sucker for a celebration – big or small. I think it’s a magical thing when people gather for the same reason with their party pants on. Whether it’s a birthday, holiday or just because it’s Wednesday – my friends and family know they can always count me in! Today is a first time celebration for me and even though it may be viewed as a small “win” by some, I hope some of you join me in celebrating National No Makeup day, which is on April 25th. I have never suffered from detrimental acne problems but at the same time, I was not blessed with skin as smooth as baby’s bottom. I am a true believer that the sexiest thing a woman can wear is her confidence and it’s a powerful feeling to bare your natural beauty.

As my readers, you know that I am not big on pushing product because I feel that everyone has their unique style, skin type, etc., but when I do find something that I believe truly works based off personal experience, I want to sing its praises from the rooftops! I began to use Differin Gel approximately 3 months ago and it’s now a staple in my skin care routine. To be honest, I always get a little nervous when trying a new product. I mean, it’s going directly on my face after all! Once I took a few deep breaths, I uncapped the gel and the process began. About two weeks in, I started to feel a bit of dryness and my skin formed a few flaky spots, but it was nothing that a hydrating moisturizer couldn’t quickly fix! Once my skin began to soak in the retinoid, my blemishes immediately cleared up, my pores felt less clogged, and I’m not kidding when I say that I haven’t had one major break out since. I no longer waste time applying makeup before running errands or feel limited on what angles I feel comfortable being captured during a photoshoot. If you ask me, that is absolutely something to celebrate! Give your makeup brushes a rest and make an investment in your skin that will last a lifetime.
